Why this dealflow is different
Emerging-market dealflow is easy to be shown and hard to underwrite. We are not forwarding decks we received. Every company here came through a program we ran with a government, a bank or a corporate, which means we watched the team work before anyone wrote a cheque, and the first customer is often a partner of ours.
How it works
- 01
Apply once
You tell us your cheque size, the sectors you actually underwrite and the markets you can hold. Nothing is committed at this point.
- 02
See deals as they come
Opportunities arrive deal by deal with the context we hold: how we met the company, what we saw in the program, and what the round looks like.
- 03
Meet the founders
Live sessions and Q&A with the team, not a forwarded deck. You ask the questions you would ask in your own diligence.
- 04
Decide per deal
You participate only where it fits. There is no blind pool, no capital call, and no obligation to take any given deal.
We are upstream of the round
These are companies we sourced through government and corporate programs and worked with for months. The introduction is not the first time we have met them.
Local price, local context
We operate on the ground in 7 countries. You see companies while the round is still being priced locally rather than after it has travelled.
Operators, not a mailing list
The syndicate is angels, funds and operators who have built in these markets. Where a deal needs a reference check, someone in it usually has one.
The kind of company you would see
Please note
The 2080 Syndicate is a separate vehicle and is not part of any 2080 Ventures fund. Nothing on this page is an offer or a solicitation to buy or sell a security. Participation is deal by deal, subject to its own documents, and limited to investors who are eligible under the rules of their jurisdiction.
From the newsletter

Five places cross-border capital work quietly breaks, all for the same reason: someone skipped the five-second check.

Money does not move like one global pool. It moves in corridors, each with its own mandate and direction.

An advance copy of Yaron Flint's new book gave me language for a problem I see every week: founders trying to build Stage 3 relationships with a Stage 0 network.
